We express our full solidarity with the people of Iran in their nationwide uprising for freedom, equality, and social justice.

This movement is the result of deep and long-standing structural crises, including economic collapse, ineffective governance, systemic corruption, and the persistent suppression of fundamental freedoms. The dramatic devaluation of Iran’s national currency, soaring inflation, widespread poverty, mass unemployment, and the killing of innocent civilians have pushed millions of Iranians to the brink. After years of hardship caused by reckless and adventurist state policies, the people of Iran are now demanding an end to authoritarian rule and the establishment of a system based on human dignity and popular sovereignty. Nationwide Uprising: The establishment of an independent international fact-finding and investigative mechanism to examine killings, arbitrary detentions, torture, enforced disappearances, and other grave human rights violations

The current protests demonstrate remarkable unity across diverse sectors of Iranian society. They go far beyond economic demands and represent a collective call for democracy, equality, and the right of the Iranian people to determine their own future. These protests reflect a society that has lost fear and is asserting its fundamental rights.

The response of the Iranian authorities has been brutal and unlawful. Nationwide internet shutdowns, arbitrary mass arrests, and the use of lethal force against peaceful demonstrators—including direct gunfire—constitute serious violations of Iran’s international obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). These actions breach, in particular, the right to life, liberty and security of person, freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly, and freedom of association. http://Live report: Day 8 of Iran Uprising; Tehran Bazaar strikes as protests hit the capital’s economic heart |

Nationwide: Immediate and unequivocal condemnation of the violent suppression of peaceful protests and an end to the use of force against civilians

  1. Immediate and unequivocal condemnation of the violent suppression of peaceful protests and an end to the use of force against civilians.
  2. The establishment of an independent international fact-finding and investigative mechanism to examine killings, arbitrary detentions, torture, enforced disappearances, and other grave human rights violations.
  3. The immediate and unconditional release of all individuals detained in connection with the protests.
  4. International support for the Iranian people’s rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and self-determination.

We reaffirm our commitment to amplifying the voices of the people of Iran and to supporting all legitimate and peaceful efforts to protect their fundamental rights. The time for decisive international action is now. Silence in the face of such widespread and systematic abuses would amount to complicity in the suffering of millions.
