Minister Tony Burke and the five Iranian soccer players who were granted humanitarian visas to stay in Australia

The Association to Defend Freedom & Human Rights in Iran – Australia expresses its full support and solidarity with the courageous Iranian women football players who have sought asylum in Australia.

These young athletes have demonstrated remarkable courage and integrity during an exceptionally difficult and historic moment for Iran. At a time when many Iranians are risking their safety to stand for freedom, dignity, and democratic values, these women have shown that sport can also serve as a powerful voice for justice, equality, and human rights.

By standing with the people of Iran and expressing solidarity with their struggle against repression, these players have taken a brave and principled position. Their actions reflect not only personal courage but also a deep commitment to the values of freedom, equality, and democracy in the face of a deeply misogynistic regime.

The Iranian community in Australia wants these athletes to know that they are not alone. We are immensely proud of their courage and their willingness to stand on the side of the Iranian people during such a challenging time in our nation’s history. Their voices and actions have inspired many within our community and beyond.

We also wish to assure them that the Iranian community here in Australia stands ready to support them in every possible way. We are willing to offer any assistance they may need, whether practical, emotional, or community support, as they begin a new chapter of their lives.

These athletes represent the resilience, determination, and hope of Iranian women.

Their bravery sends a powerful message that the voices of Iranian women cannot be silenced and that the pursuit of freedom, equality, and democracy will continue.

We warmly welcome them and extend our deepest respect for their courage, their principles, and their solidarity with the Iranian people.

We also express our sincere appreciation to the Australian Government and the Australian public for their support and understanding in this matter.
